Chill-Master device: Transforming Rooms into Cold Storage

The Global Challenge

Did you know that one-third of the world's food is lost or wasted annually, leading to economic losses exceeding $1 trillion? In sub-Saharan Africa, this translates to approximately 37% of food loss per capita each year, contributing to food insecurity for millions

The Problem

  Inadequate post-harveting and storage facilities exacerbate food loss, impacting farmers' incomes and squandering precious resources. Moreover, this wastage contributes to 8-10% of annual greenhouse gas emissions, directly affecting our environment.   


Our Solution - The Chill-Master

 Chill-Master is a revolutionary dual-temperature control unit designed to convert any room with fair insulation into a cold room, effectively addressing the challenges of post-harvest food loss. This locally-made technology is tailored to meet the demands of the local market, ensuring affordability, scalability, and sustainability.  


Chill-Master is not just a product; it's a catalyst for local development. With a simple and robust design, the price of each unit is 50% cheaper than competitive products on the market while ensuring a favorable profit margin. This affordability not only stimulates industry growth but also generates local employment opportunities. Our solution is not just about transforming rooms; it's about transforming lives. 


Our Chill-Master device is an add-on product that works with an air conditioner to cool down a food storeroom to low temperatures. Our initial trial conducted in Juba, South Sudan, successfully achieved an average temperature of 3°C inside the storeroom, despite outside temperatures reaching as high as 45°C.  The preliminary tests demonstrate that our product can effectively maintain suitable storeroom temperatures for storing various produce, including vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and milk. 


We firmly believe that walk-in storerooms are the future of food preservation in Africa. They offer a solution to the problem of farm produce waste resulting from inadequate cold storage. Our final goal is to manufacture and assemble the entire product in Africa at an affordable cost, thereby creating local jobs.
